Title: Clarification on ''Bond Strength (sbond)''. Mohr Coulomb cohesion?
Post by: Jaime on October 06, 2025, 04:55:55 pm
Hi all,

I'm modeling a geogrid-reinforced foundation in ADONIS 3.90 using Strip elements with interface properties. I want to confirm my understanding of Bond Strength (sbond) (manual: cohesive strength of the grout [force/cable length]?).

Is sbond the cohesive term in a Mohr-Coulomb interface law?

I intend to model a cohesionless interface.

Thanks!

Hi, yes, sbond represents cohesion in the formulation. You can refer to the FLAC manual for more details about the formulation. I used the same approach in ADONIS.

Here?s the relevant section from the FLAC documentation:

https://docs.itascacg.com/itasca900/common/sel/doc/manual/sel_manual/cables/cables.html#cable-structural-elements

grout-cohesion in FLAC corresponds to sbond in ADONIS.
