Hi,

Found this exiting FEM package with lots of useful features!

How do 'crack' elements get activated and assigned properties and be modeled? It is available in geometry.

if by crack you mean joint or interface element, you can add joint to the model while creating the geometry. ADONIS will automatically create separate nodes along the joint element. Before solving the model you need to make sure to assign properties for each interface element. Please take a look at Tutorials 6 and 8 for more detail on how to modify the interface properties.

I see. the activation of your 'crack' elements will have to be accompanied by introduction of structural element, followed by interface property assignment. It is different from those 'contact' elements.

Will you introduce those element types that can detach/part away?

perhaps, it requires methods that can handle large strain/displacement scenarios such as (DEM, DDA etc.). ADONIS is based on small strain formulation. one day it might happen though!

Indeed.

Also observed that deformed meshes are not plottable, neither are those plastic strain components available in the outcome using Mohr-Coulomb criterion. These are absolutely necessary for large-strain elasto-plastic FEM models.
