Hello,

I'modelling a sheet pile wall but I have a problem with the attached script. When I solve the model for initialization stresses are multiplied by a factor 10, but if I plot sig1 before solving the stress is correct.
I've run the script of the tutorial nr 6 and I have no problem. I conclude that there's something wrong in my script but I don't figure it out. Some advice?

Thank You

Hi,

I need little bit of explanation.
what do you mean by it's multiplied by 10? where do you get this factor (10) from?

Hi,

I mean that in my model the max sig1 is around 400 kPa.
If I plot sig1 before solving for stress initialization, it's correct, but after solving to equilibrium sig1 is 3940 kPa.

you are using unit weight (KN/m3) instead of density (Mg/m3). That's why when model gets cycled the factor of 10 from gravity kicks in and the final vertical stress get balanced by program. please take a look at unit convention table in the manual (or attached figure) or if you open up the gui/dialog for material properties the proper density unit will be shown based on the selected unit.
